Ski touring allows its enthusiasts to ski in wild environments as close as possible to nature. The skier creates its own route to a summit at the rate of its steps and leaves its trace in the immaculate snow on the descent. The skis are equipped with specific bindings that release the heels when going up and block them when going down. According to the French Federation of Skiing and Mountaineering (FFME), around 200,000 people practice ski touring in France.
