The feet of Comtois horses are of average size and must be strong and well shaped to withstand the loads of draft work. Their hooves made of horn adapt naturally to the climatic conditions : they are more resistant in times of drought to protect themselves against excessive wear associated with harder and drier soils and become softer and more tender in wet periods.
