The landscapes of the Arctic zone are extremely diverse. They alternate areas of pack ice, rugged coastlines, coastal plains, rivers, lakes, vast expanses of tundra and the world's largest forests. There are also different types of relief, from the hills to the high mountains exceeding 19,685ft (6,000m) above sea level through the rock barriers and the barren plateaus.
