The stonemason's tools

0
The squares and templates visible on this workbench of a stonemason in Guédelon are calculation and measuring tools that allow, with rulers and compasses, to draw the dimensions and shapes of the block to be cut. The square placed on this block of limestone from Donzy allows the cutter to create a block with faces perpendicular to each other and to check the correct squareness of the different cutting stages. For the cutting itself, the stonemason uses different types of cutters (cutting tools) and hammers or mallets (percussion tools).
