The tools of the medieval carpenters and joiners
0
0
The carpenters and joiners of the Middle Ages used a multitude of tools for tracing (rulers, squares, compasses, tracing points), sawing (tenon saws, scroll saws, window saws, pegs), slicing (planes, gouges, rasps, scissors), clamping (vices, presses), striking (hammers, mallets), and drilling (crankshafts, bits, primers, augers, gimlets, drills). This photo taken in the workshops of the Guédelon medieval construction site in the Yonne department shows augers used for manual drilling and gouges for slicing and carving wood.
