The origins of the Comtois horse
0
0
The Comtois horse descends from a common trunk with the Swiss Franches-Montagnes horse, the only remaining breed of Swiss origin. It separated from it in the middle of the 19th century by moving towards heavy draft and crossing with Ardennes horses. The ancestors of the Comtois horse would have varied origins, at the same time Germanic, Burgundian, Arabic and Spanish.
