The birds of the Philharmonie

Some of them fly into the sky of the Parc de la Villette and others, fictitious, cover the facades, the roof and the forecourt of the Philharmonie de Paris. The seven different shapes and four shades of pearly grey contrast with the polished stainless steel scales of the rounded parts of the building. The measured reflections of the bird silhouettes designed by Jean Nouvel parallel the flight of the musical notes to which the building is dedicated. The architect complied with the HEQ (High Environmental Quality) standards that make this building a leading innovation in France.
