The many stained-glass windows of the abbey of Fontfroide
0
0
The numerous stained glass windows that adorn the doors and openings in the Abbey of Fontfroide are not the original ones. In 1903, the monument was bought by Gustave Fayet and Madeleine d´Andoque. The new owners commissioned Richard de Burgsthal for new stained-glass windows to fill the gaping openings in the structure. Contrary to Cistercian culture, these are vignettes of bright and luminous colors. They represent the creation of the world but also Nature in all its splendor.
