The multiple colors of ocher
0
0
Ocher is a clay (kaolinite) colored by various oxides and hydroxides of iron which give it a variety of colors ranging from red to brown and yellow depending on the proportions of these oxides. This color palette full of nuances - there are twenty-four of them in the Massif des Ocres of Luberon - can be further enhanced by traces of manganese oxide.
