The Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park includes the Frankenthal-Missheimle nature reserve. It extends over 1,843 acres (746 ha) and is one of the richest in the Vosges in terms of biodiversity. The many fallen rocks, streams, and dead woods are, for example, suitable for more than 200 species of moss. Green Dicranium is a variety that grows between 656 and 3,280 ft of altitude (200 and 1,000 m). It forms pads a few centimeters thick.
