The windmills of Calvados

0
The Route des Moulins (Windmills Route) crosses Calvados as a tourist loop. The windmill of Courseulles is currently without its blades, but it has preserved its typical half-timbering, which makes it an emblematic site of the area. It stands at the mouth of the Seulles river near the oyster beds. The Route des Moulins allows strollers to discover the valleys of the Seulles, Mue, and Thue rivers that once fed the numerous mills of the region. These mills are now abandoned and have mostly been turned into homes.
