Walruses, a venerated major ressource
1
0
Walruses have been a major resource for Inuits for millennia. They used their meat for their food, their fat for lighting and heating, their skin for clothing and tools. They made blades, sleds or glasses with their tusks and toothpicks with the bristles of their vibrissae. They venerated their human qualities of solidarity, sociability, courage and tenderness while fearing their legendary ability to capsize their boats by gripping them with their tusks.
