The miracles of St. Odile

Born blind, Odile recovered her sight at her baptism at the age of 12. Rejected at birth by her father, the Duke of Alsace, she eventually returned to the family castle of Hohenbourg but refused to marry, choosing God instead. She fled to the Black Forest, pursued by her father, when a rock opened up and saved her. When she emerged from her hiding place, transfigured, a spring began to flow. On another time, she met a blind and thirsty old man, and she used his stick so as to make another spring. This healing water still flows in our times, and many eye healings have allegedly occurred there. St. Odile died in 720.
