To the East, around Maraye-en-Othe and Bercenay-en-Othe, the Othe Forest becomes darker and more frightening. It is populated with legendary creatures like the 'voirloup'. This fantastic, evil, and nocturnal animal indeed haunts the folklore specific to the land of Othe. Invulnerable, it embodies men or women with dark souls, guilty of the seven deadly sins and possessed by demons who take an animal form (wolf, fox, boar...) to harm the living.
