‘L’Estive Bessarde’, located in the Pertuyzat-Pavin-Montchal Nordic skiing sector to the South-West of Besse-et-Saint-Anastaise is probably used as a grazing area for herds in the summer. The French term ‘estive’ designates both the time of year when the herds graze on the mountain pastures and, by metonymy, the mountain pastures themselves.
