The surveys carried out in the forests of the Monts Dore region – which includes the Chaudefour valley – have made it possible to list the ten most represented species, out of the forty-one recorded. They are the beech (Fagus sylvatica) 60%, the hazel coudier (Corylus avellana) 49%, the white alias (Sorbus aria) 49%, the common ash (Fraxinus excelsior) 48%, the Mountain ash (Sorbus aucuparia) 39%, the common spruce (Picea excelsa) 35%, the sessile oak (Quercus petraea) 34%, the Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) 31%, the silver fir (Abies alba) 30 % and the cherry (Prunus avium) 29%.
