The spines of the long-spined sea urchin
2
0
The spines of the long-spined sea urchin can measure up to 11.8inches (30cm). They are thin, hollow, very brittle and divided into small bunches. Generally black, they can go from dark purple to brown and include clear quills. They are often streaked with light and dark stripes in juveniles. Very long and sharp, they offer an effective refuge for shrimps, flatworms or fish.
