Traditional Camargue spurs are called à la chevalière. They are short, made of steel, and equipped with a small star knurl. They are fixed to the gardian's high shoes or boots by a small leather strap. The two main types of spurs are divided between those à la chevalière, fixed to the shoe using a strap and a leather under-foot strap, and the ordinary spurs called à vis or à boite and attached to the heel of the shoe. The shape of the spurs is variable and can be pointed, pinned, knurled, etc.
