The bowels of a Pacific

At the Cité du Train in Mulhouse, it is possible to slip under a CHAPELON Nord, or Pacific Nord, from 1936. Engineer André Chapelon transformed the Pacific locomotives to give them more power. Visitors are allowed to observe the complex mechanics of the locomotive displayed in the museum by circulating in the inspection pit located under it. It offers an unusual and immersive insight into the operating of former trains.
