Located in the Alpes Maritimes department, the Monts d'Azur Biological Reserve offers the ancestral species of fauna it shelters a mosaic of different environments. They range from the natural meadows bordering the water points to rocky cliffs culminating at Pic de l'Aiglon at an altitude of 5,577ft (1,700m), passing through woodlands of deciduous and coniferous trees on the hillsides.
