The Cornille Havard foundry is the heir to a long tradition of bell founders established in Villedieu-les-Poêles since the end of the Middle Ages. The workshop, still in operation, was built in 1865 and more than a hundred bells are made each year. Before this date, founders were itinerant and moved to the foot of churches and cathedrals to make their bells. Paul Bergamo perpetuates the traditions of manufacturing methods which have hardly changed. The Cornille Havard foundry is recognized by all experts for the aesthetic and musical quality of its bells.
