Horses are part of the daily life of the Marquesans: the children swim with them, go to school with their horses... these fellows are essential to go to Tahuata Island. They use them for the transport of heavy loads, like copra, pulp of coconuts, the main culture of the archipelago. The production rate, each year, reaches 3,75 million pounds (1700 t).
