The Lieutenance is a building classified as a Historical Monument that adjoins the Vieux Bassin (Old Basin) of Honfleur in the Calvados department. This vestige of the fortifications erected in the 14th century by King Charles V surmounts the Porte de Caen (Caen Gate). The 17th-century brick and stone buildings built on the basement of the old enclosure were assigned to the King's lieutenant from 1684 to the Revolution and gave the site its name. They now house the city's harbor master's office.
