The former terraces of Sainte-Agnès
0
0
The houses of the hilltop village of Sainte-Agnès in the Alpes-Maritimes department stand overhanging numerous former terraces. They bear testament to the ancient market gardening, fruit, and cereal crops to which the inhabitants devoted themselves. Today, very few are still cultivated, and wastelands are gaining ground. However, the lower part of Sainte-Agnès is still planted with chestnut, lemon, orange, and olive trees.
