The actors of a lifelong dream

The idea and the project to build a fortified castle from scratch while respecting the materials and techniques of the 13th century came from a private individual, Michel Guyot, a lover of medieval history. Born in Bourges in 1947 in a family that transmitted to him the taste of the terroir and the passion for castles, he bought in 1979, with his brother Jacques, the castle of Saint-Fargeau for one million francs. In a few decades, he transformed this empty and dilapidated building covered with two hectares of roofs to be restored into an architectural splendor. This fulfilled dream fed an even crazier one: to build a real castle. Michel Guyot then quickly joined the services of a communicator and director, Maryline Martin, who became co-director of the company in 2006, then General Manager of the project from 2013. She has worked with Delphine Bourselot since 2010 and appointed her as Director of the tourist site in 2017.
