The stained-glass of the Creation

From 1958 to 1968, Marc Chagall ornated Saint Stephen Cathedral with his stained-glass windows with the help of Charles Marq and Brigitte Simon. Their ancestors have been master glassmakers since 1640. Sixteen windows adorn the triforium of the cathedral with crude colors and tortured lines. They reinforce the genesis of the Creation that the artist develops on the four lancets of the north transept. They depict Adam being placed in a large garden by a two-faced angel.
