Burgundy wine at the King's Court

At the start of the 17th century, champagne was most successful at the Court of France. Nevertheless, Louis XIV's doctor, Fagon, decreed that champagne caused the king ailments. He decides instead to prescribe Burgundy wine to him. This order of Fagon in 1693 has beneficial effects on the health of the sovereign. From then on, the Court in turn adopted the wine of Burgundy.
