The historical village of Bergheim

0
The village of Bergheim is visible from the heights of Haut-Koenigsbourg castle. It has managed to keep and enhance many vestiges of its turbulent historical past. There is a 14th century Upper Gate and the parish church whose Gothic heart dates from 1347. The witches' house retraces the trials that took place in Bergheim from 1582 to 1683. The village's 14th-century ramparts are also flanked by numerous towers. In the Herrengarten (town garden) stands a centuries-old lime tree from the year 1300. Bergheim's hillsides also produce popular Grands Crus: Altenberg and Kanzlerberg.
