The Glass Ecomuseum of the Verrerie de Biot stages its old oven to immerse the visitors in the heart of traditional glassmaking. Built in bricks by the Etablissements Ricard in 1973, it is supplied with natural gas and has several openings on the front. They allow the master glassmaker to pick up the molten glass in the furnace from which, heated to 2,012°F (1,100°C), it comes out reddened before cooling rapidly.
