The annual work in the lavender fields
0
0
The lavender harvest lasts about one month around July, with twelve hours of work per day. Once the harvest is complete, the field maintenance can begin again. In December, the lavender growers uproot the dead plants and prepare the land for the March planting. In spring, they uproot the plants which have failed to grow and transplant new ones. Later in the season, it is necessary to weed the fields to allow the lavenders to take advantage of the soil's nutrients. The lavender fields, therefore, require constant maintenance from the planting period in March until June.
