"Les Quais de l'Histoire" (The Platforms of History) area of the Cité du Train displays numerous locomotives from 1844 to the present day. Among some emblematic old models stands the locomotive that used to lead Napoleon III's imperial train. It was designed for the Paris-Orléans company, the fastest line in the world back then (62 mph / 100 km/h). Empress Eugénie's private car followed the locomotive, whose model was in use until 1945.
