Cheetahs spend many hours of their daily life grooming. Like other cats, they have a barbed tongue that they also use to remove dirt or even blood after hunting or eating. When several live together, such as a coalition or a female with a litter, they groom each other to clean the places hard to reach. In these moments, it is not unusual to hear them purring loudly.
