The Air and Space Museum’s tarmac

The tarmac of the Musée de l’Air et de l’Espace (Air and Space Museum) at Le Bourget is occupied by civil aviation airliners (including an Airbus A380) and several fighter planes. The Ariane 1 and Ariane 5 launchers, which stand 48 and 54 metres tall, dominate the landscape like blinking headlights at night. The two original 1:1 scale models can be seen from a distance of almost 16 miles (25 km). Ariane 1 is a long one-piece tube, while Ariane 5 has a central element and two solid rocket boosters. This is a unique opportunity to see the flagships of the European space industry up close.
