The pink symbol of Camargue

0
The greater flamingo (Phoenicopterus roseus) is one of the 400 bird species observable in Camargue. Easily identifiable by its silhouette and signature color, it has become the symbol of the region of Southern France. The carotenoid pigments present in its diet, mainly composed of Artemia salina shrimps thriving in lagoons and brackish waters, give the species this unmistakable coloring.
