On pourrait la croire très ancienne, elle a été inaugurée en 1936 et elle est l’œuvre de l’architecte Jean-Louis Pascal, décédé en 1920 et de son ancien élève, Alfred Recoura.
Salle de lecture longtemps réservée aux chercheurs, elle ouvre ses portes au grand public qui pourra consulter, confortablement assis, quelques-uns des 20 000 ouvrages mis à disposition ainsi que 9 000 bandes dessinées.
