The Unknown Soldier grave lies under the Arc of Triumph on Charles de Gaulle Square. It is a place of meditation and commemoration of the two World Wars. Close ot it , on the walls of the monument, erected by Napoleon 1st, are engraved the names of 96 battles (24 on each of the four pillars) on the inner faces of the large arches. They were carried out by the First Republic and the First Empire between 1792 and 1815 all over Europe by Napoleon.
