The MuséoParc Alésia seems placed in the middle of the hilly landscapes of Auxois like a circular vessel symbolizing the encirclement of the Gauls by the Romans during the siege of the city in 52 BC. The building's green and panoramic roof terrace allows the visitors to take the measure of the old battlefield that saw the defeat of the troops of Vercingétorix against Julius Caesar's. Inaugurated in 2012, the MuséoParc was designed by the architect Bernard Tschumi at the foot of the village of Alise-Sainte-Reine in the Côte-d'Or department on two separate sites 1.2 miles (2 km) apart.
