Home to a former dynamite factory

The listed site of the Anse des Paulilles extends at the heart of nature in a protected environment of the Pyrénées-Orientales department. This former industrial site housed one of the most delicate industries in France: a dynamite factory. The plant employed hundreds of workers, produced thousands of tons of dynamite and housed a church, a school, and several shops. Today, seven of the 32 factory buildings are open to the public and allow visitors to discover the site's industrial heritage. Through an original museography, the Maison du Site displays accounts of the Paulilles of yesteryear and the life of its workers.
