The only brave bull in Europe

The biòu or Camargue bull is an animal still considered wild and the only European breed, therefore, qualified as a brave breed. This fiery and indomitable animal is recognizable by its shiny black coat and its horns in the shape of a lyre or raised goblet. While the Camargue bull is generally quite large in size, it is, however, a relatively light animal and weighs between 550 and 880 pounds (250 and 400 kg), which gives it ideal aptitudes for racing. A true emblem of the Camargue region, the biòu is at the heart of many local traditions like Camargue races, the abrivado, or the bandido, an event during which wild bulls cross towns and villages supervised by herdsmen on horseback.
