The Centre Athénas is a care center for wild animals in the Jura department and the Franche-Comté region. It welcomes, cares for, and rehabilitates injured animals of the European fauna and abandoned young. Its director, Gilles Moyne, has focused more on the survival of the Eurasian lynx in the region since 1987. Thanks to him and his team, 40 lynxes and 200 European wildcats have been saved and released. The Centre Athénas is the only place specialized in the safeguarding of lynxes in France.
