The crucial work of the basket carrier

The basket carriers have a crucial role during grapes harvest. They go back and forth between the pickers for whom they are responsible (about 10 per carrier), and must harvest the content of the buckets as quickly as possible so that micro-fermentation does not degrade the taste of the grapes. With a sweeping gesture, they empty their hood onto the sorting table. They can carry up to 176 lbs (80 kg) of grapes and must have a good constitution as the harvest lasts 10 to 15 days. Some very steep plots are equipped with sledges to accompany the carriers and their hoods.
