The abrivado ritual

The abrivado precedes the start of the Camargue races. The bulls enter the arena from their meadows accompanied by manadiers (guardians) from their herd on horseback. While the objective of the guardians is to stay grouped during the trip, the passers-by aim to divert the bulls from their course in the streets. The bandido constitutes the return of the bulls to the meadows after the race.
