Hermann's tortoise diet
1
0
Mainly herbivorous, the Hermann's tortoise (Testudo hermanni hermanni) feeds on annual or perennial plants in the herbaceous layer of its natural environment, in particular those of the Fabaceae (Legumes) and Asteraceae (Compositae) families. It also occasionally consumes fruits and invertebrates and even corpses remains and mammalian feces. In summer, it needs to supplement the water provided by its food by finding shelter in humid areas and drinking from water points.
