The Old Nice district is separated to the west from the rest of the city by the Paillon River. The presence of the watercourse is made unsuspected by the coverage of part of its route by a promenade dotted with several monuments such as the theater, the museum of Modern Art, Acropolis, or the convention center. On the seaside, the Old Nice is bordered by the Cours Saleya, which prolongs the Promenade des Anglais and constitutes a lively place with many small restaurants and a flower and greengrocer market.
