The Lérins Islands constitute the main natural space of the city of Cannes. With their 7.4 mi (12 km) of coastline, pine forests, and avifauna, they form an invaluable conservatory of the Mediterranean coastal ecosystems. The Posidonia meadows growing around the islands and extending to Pointe Croisette are taken into account in the delimitation of the sectors dedicated to the port and seaside activities of the conurbation.
