The French Avia 41 P glider

Between 1930 and 1935, the Avia company produced nine different glider models, including the Avia 41 P. The single-seat high-wing glider flew for the first time in 1932 at La Banne d’Ordanche, in the Puy-de-Dôme. The Avia 41 P was largely inspired by Alexander Lippisch's Kronfield Wien, whose performance impressed the pilot Nesser. Built in wood with guyed wings, the glider has an ovoid fuselage which makes it very light (165 kg empty). The 41 P of the Musée de l’Air et de l’Espace (Air and Space Museum), presented in the Entre-deux-guerres Hall, broke the speed record of 128.6 mph (207 km/h) for an altitude of 1,850 metres in 1936.
