The lighthouse and the vineyards

The municipality of Verzenay holds an 82 ft terrestrial lighthouse (25 m) immersed in the middle of the vineyards. Joseph Goulet built it in 1909 to promote his champagne wines. Until the First World War ended their success, the lighthouse's restaurant and tavern hosted numerous festivities. At the top of the monument, a 360° panorama opens on the vineyards after climbing 101 steps. The lighthouse of Verzenay celebrated its 110th anniversary in 2019.
