Every year in August, the city of Sète is brought to life by the Feast of Saint Louis, the local patron saint, held for a week. It constitutes an event awaited by the fans of jousting competitions. The festival is the climax of the sporting season for the jousters themselves, who face each other in their final tournament of the year, a true world championship in all categories of the discipline. The winner of the competition sees his name engraved for posterity on a bulwark then exhibited in the jousting room of the Paul Valéry Museum.
