If the existence of white lions was made public in the 1970s by Chris McBride through his book The white lions of Timbavati, they have since become the heroes of various fictions such as Leo the king of the jungle in 1997, an animated film by Yoshio Takeuchi inspired by Osamu Tezuka's manga King Leo, The white lion of the Limpopo Valley, Michel Swann's film in 2010 or the american animation series Father of the pride (2004/2005) by Jeffrey Katzenberg featuring a family of white lions whose patriarch appears in the Siegfried & Roy Show in Las Vegas, not to mention the japanese TV series Lion-Maru and Lion-Maru G where the hero is a buffy lion-headed warrior.
