Le Havre's war memorial stands in the Perret district of the city center, between the Bassin du Commerce and the Volcan cultural center. This sculpture by Pierre-Marie Poisson, created in 1924, is particularly imposing and includes several commemorative figures and sculptures turning away from the Bassin du Commerce on the upper part. Commissioned in 1922 to glorify the local soldiers who fell during World War I, the monument also commemorates the victory of France. The names of the missing soldiers are engraved on the memorial's base.
